Watch Value

Now that you know where to sell your watch and how to sell your watch. Watches have different values and you have to consider several factors that may affect their value or resale price. When it comes to evaluating your watch, it depends on where you want to sell your watch. Nevada Coin Mart considers five factors when estimating your watch’s worth. The factors are enumerated below.

  • Watch Brand
  • Model
  • Movement
  • Condition
  • Style

What is a watch?

A watch is a compact type of clock that is small enough to be carried anywhere. Its owner can carry it in their pocket or wear it on their wrists. There are two types of watches: a wristwatch intended to be worn around a person’s wrist. A wristwatch has a strap or bracelet made of leather, cloth, or metal is attached to the top and bottom of the watch. The second type of watch is the pocket watch, a watch intended to be carried in a pocket. It is often attached to a chain that is clipped onto the clothes so that the watch does not fall off.

Types of Watch Movements

A watch is has with a contraption called a movement or calibre that measures the movement of time. The movement is also responsible for displaying the current time and other information on the watch, such as the current date.

When selling your watch, it is important to know what time of movement it uses as the type of movement may affect your watch’s resale value. There are three types of watch movements known today.

Mechanical

Mechanical watches use an escapement mechanism to control the winding parts of the watch. It also uses a balancing wheel and a hairspring (balancing spring) to control the gears akin to a pendulum. Mechanical watches are said to be less accurate than watches with electronic movement, as they are prone to time-keeping errors or a few seconds, temperature, position, and magnetism.

Automatic

Automatic watches (also known as self-winding watches) are watches that use the natural bodily movement of the wearer to power the watch’s mainspring. Its power depends solely on the wearer’s movement, so it stops when the watch is not worn for a certain period. However, it can be manually wound to work again or keep running when not worn.

Electronic

Electronic or quartz movements only have a few moving parts, and at times it does not have one at all. A quartz crystal powers the watch that vibrates. Quartz watches typically use a replaceable to generate electricity which powers the quartz crystal.

Functionality

A watch’s primary function is to tell time, the given hour and minute of the day. However, some watches include watch functions that are beyond the basics, such as a date display. Additional functions on the watch are called a complication. When selling your watch, its functionality also plays an important role. The more complications it has, the higher its value.

Below are the types of watch complications:

  • Chronograph – Also functions as a stopwatch.
  • Moonphase – Shows the phases of the moon.
  • Perpetual Calendar – shows the day and/or week of the month.

Luxury Brand Jewelry

Sell High-End Jewelry | High-End Jewelry Buyer – Las Vegas, NV

Sell High-End Jewelry

Designer jewelry is jewelry that has a distinct design aesthetic that an individual or design firm specifies. The importance of a certain aesthetic commonly has precious materials or odd materials. And jewelers typically handcraft these jewelry pieces. As a result, a designer jewelry collection may consist of tens to hundreds of items, all of which are variations on the same pattern, motif, or technique. Designer jewelry firms usually hire master craftsmen to design and create these one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Read more to learn how to sell you high-end jewelry and get information about high-end jewelry buyers.

Value of Luxury Brand Jewelry

If you decide to sell your high-end jewelry, we will evaluate it. And the following criteria determine the value of your luxury brand jewelry:

Brand

The brand of your jewelry plays the biggest role in determining your item’s value. Specifically, certain luxury brands have a higher second-hand market value than others. Branded jewelry items, especially luxury brands are highly sought after. Some of the most popular luxury brands include Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Buccellati, and Tiffany & Co.

Market Value

The market value of luxury jewelry items is primarily determined by their precious metal contents and the value of gemstones that are in them. However, the hallmark or brand name of the jewelry also plays a role in its value. So its resell value is a combination of its material and the name it carries. For example, a Cartier bracelet is more valuable than a bracelet with no name associated with it. High-end jewelry buyers will definitely look for these when buying your items.

Raw Materials

As said in the previous paragraph, the value of luxury jewelry is also influenced by the fineness of its precious metal contents. Therefore, the gemstones that are encrusted on them are also evaluated for their quality. Diamonds, for example, are evaluated using the 4Cs — clarity, carat, cut, and color.

Condition

When selling your luxury jewelry, the condition of your jewelry is also important. The resale value of a piece of luxury brand jewelry increases when sold in good condition. However, if a piece of jewelry is in bad condition and will need repairs, its resale value will dramatically decline.

Box and Papers for Designer Jewelry

Generally, designer jewelry comes in a box with the designer’s papers. Collectors value a designer piece’s box and papers, so getting these pieces will help you get a higher price for your pre-owned jewelry for a far higher price than one that does not.

If you are looking to sell your luxury jewelry, Nevada Coin Mart is the place to go. We are the biggest jewelry buyer in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV. Fine Jewelry

Sell Fine Jewelry in Las Vegas, NV | Fine Jewelry Buyer

Jewelers refer to jewelry that comes in solid gold, silver, and other precious metals as fine jewelry. Also, precious stones such as diamonds, rubies, and sapphires are often in this type of jewelry. Fine jewelry is much more durable than fashion jewelry since it is mostly of solid precious metals and precious gemstones. Moreover, it will not tarnish if you store it properly and take care of it the right way. Furthermore, jewelers can easily fix fine jewelry if it becomes damaged, unlike fashion jewelry, which you might as well throw away if you break it. As you can see, while fine jewelry has a higher price tag, the value and longevity of these pieces make them well worth the investment. In this blog, we’ll be talking about where to sell fine jewelry and Nevada Coin Mart – the largest fine jewelry buyer in all of Las Vegas.

Value of Fine Jewelry

A number of different factors can definitely influence the value of your pre-owned fine jewelry. So, if you have any fine jewelry items that you want to sell, consider how all of these factors may affect the value of your one-of-a-kind pieces.

Brand

Certain luxury brands keep their value better in the secondary market than others. Cartier, Chanel, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels are fine jewelry brands with higher resale value. For instance, a solitaire diamond engagement ring from Tiffany & Co. would typically resell for more than an unsigned solitaire diamond engagement ring of comparable quality. Also, due to their high desirability, some collections from luxury designers can hold value better.

Market Value

If a piece of jewelry is signed or unsigned, its resale value is heavily influenced by its salability in the current market. Hence, a product’s nature, materials, or brand make it more attractive in customers’ eyes, which can give the item a higher resale value. That said, if you plan to sell fine jewelry, you ought to check its market value first before deciding to make an offer.

Raw Materials

The quality of an item’s raw materials will always affect its resale value. When evaluating their purchasing bid, an appraiser can determine a piece’s precious metals and gemstones, including the carat weight and characteristics of the gemstones. The quality and carat weight of gemstone and diamond jewelry may have a significant impact on its value.

Condition

Proper care for fine jewelry can help you maintain or even increase its resale value. On the other hand, if a piece of jewelry is in bad condition it will need a few repairs. Replacing its pieces might cause its value to drop.

Best Buyer of Fine Jewelry

Nevada Coin Mart is the best place where you can sell your fine jewelry. As the largest fine jewelry buyer in Las Vegas, we also buy various old jewelry and even watches. You can visit us at 4065 S. Scrap & Broken Jewelry

Sell Scrap Jewelry in Las Vegas, NV | Scrap Jewelry Buyer

The term “scrap” is sometimes used interchangeably with “unusable content.” It differs from waste in that it has a monetary value, especially in the case of recovered metallic and non-metallic materials. Things made of gold, silver, palladium, and platinum are among these items. Today, this type of jewelry occupies the jewelry-buying market, mainly because many people around the world consider this collection a booming trend. Any jewelry piece that carries precious metal content is perfect for jewelry scrapping. You can sell scrap jewelry for cash, but you will have to find a good scrap jewelry buyer if you want to get a good deal.

Value of Broken & Scrap Jewelry

The value of scrap jewelry relies upon three factors: weight, quality, and purity. Also, since this type of jewelry comes in a multifaceted form, meaning varying shapes and sizes, weight is essential in assessing its value. The second consideration is quality. Although it is dubbed as broken and scrap, many jewelry buyers look after its quality if it can still be reused or melted with value. Broken or scrap jewelry items are still marketable. Another essential feature of broken and scrap jewelry is purity. It reveals the number of karat or troy ounces it contains and how much the piece is made of different metals.

Best Scrap Jewelry Buyer in Vegas

Nevada Coin Mart is the best place to sell scrap jewelry in all of Las Vegas. We are home to professional scrap jewelry buyers who know and understand how to determine the value of scrap lots. We also buy other items like wedding bands, used diamond wedding rings, and diamond earrings. Our team gives free in-store evaluations of broken and scrap jewelry pieces using a cutting-edge Thermo Scientific Niton X-Ray Spectrometer to precisely analyze and calculate their precious metal content. This will ensure that you get the best possible price for your jewelry. So,  if you intend to sell your scrap jewelry, you can bring them to our store today. Visit us at Nevada Coin Mart® 4065 S. Jones Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89103, or call us up at 702-998-4000. We are open 365 times a year, from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Brief History

Scrapping starts with recycling remains or waste after product processing and use. Moreover, people use this method to repurpose scrap metal made from a variety of materials in conjunction with steel. However, as time passes, scrapping has evolved to include recycling valuable objects made of metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Most people started off with scrapping as a hobby. Nowadays, you’d find individuals who take pride in the number of jewelry scraps they find as well as the amount of cash they get for their lots. Some individuals enjoy the thrill of finding jewelry scraps in odd places. They either sell those scrap pieces of jewelry or keep it as a memento for their success.

Wedding Ring

Where to Sell Wedding Ring | Wedding Ring Buyer – Las Vegas, NV

Sell Wedding Ring

A wedding ring is a finger ring that signifies the wearer’s marital status. It is commonly made from precious metals like gold, silver, or platinum. Depending on the culture, couples were their rings on the left or right ring finger. Generally speaking, wedding rings symbolize eternal love binding two people, as they thrive in the path towards a marriage life. However, some marriages end in divorce, and some couples want to get rid of their rings. Selling your wedding ring is one of the best ways to get it out of your hands. To learn more about how to sell your wedding ring, wedding ring buyers, and where to sell your wedding ring read more below.

Value of Wedding Rings

When selling your wedding ring, buyers typically evaluate it to ensure that you are getting the best price possible. And there are several factors that a wedding ring buyer considers. Below are some of the most common factors in determining your ring’s value:

Material

Material pertains to the fineness or purity of the metal used in crafting your ring. The higher the purity, the higher its value. Another factor to consider is the quality of the gemstone — if there’s a stone on it. The better the quality of the gemstone, the higher its price tag.

Condition

Wedding rings that are well maintained and in good condition have a higher resell value than those in bad shape. Caring for your jewelry is important to avoid tarnishing and surface damages.

Hallmark

Hallmark pertains to the maker’s mark or the brand. Most luxury wedding rings like Tiffany & Co will have a makers mark on the inner part of the ring. If your wedding ring is hallmarked with a luxury brand, you’ll get a high price for it. Brief History

Ancient Romans and Greeks were the first ones to practice the tradition of wearing wedding rings. Wedding rings were mostly connected to the practice of giving out marital dowry, which later became a promise of fidelity. The modern practice of exchanging wedding rings originated from European Christians in the Middle Ages.

Women in the United States and Canada were the only ones who wore wedding rings, while their husbands did not wear any. However, it became a norm for both husband and wife to wear them at the beginning of the 20th century.

Historical Styles

Early wedding rings are different from the rings we know today. Historians believe that wedding rings change and adopt the trend of a particular period. Some of these historical styles of wedding rings include the following:

Gimmel Rings

Husbands their wives give an interlocking ring called the gimmel from 16th to 17th century Europe. The ring consists of two interlocking bands, where the couple wears one band during the engagement. Eventually, the two rings are joined together during the wedding. After that, the wife typically wears the combined rings.

Poesy Rings

The Renaissance brought in a style of ring that had a poem or “poesy” etched on it. The sterling silver band was popular amongst couples.

Other Styles

Wedding rings styles are different across cultures which uses their historical styles. The Byzantine ring, for example, portrays Christ joining the bride and groom in matrimony. Middle-Eastern couples also wore a historical ring. The ring has several pieces that are put together into a band when properly worn. The ring was difficult to remove, and the husband would know if the wife removed it. Another European custom was wearing the fede ring—a ring that has two enveloped hands signifying marriage.

During WWII, the British government placed cutbacks on jewelry production because some of the materials used in jewelry production were allocated for wartime efforts. Because of this, utility wedding rings became the norm where the maximum weight of the ring is just over 3 grams and was made of 9-karat gold instead of the more common 22-karat.

Platinum Ring

Where to Sell Platinum Ring | Platinum Ring Price – Las Vegas, NV

People know and love platinum for its lustrous, silvery-white color. And for that reason, jewelers consider it as one of the most luxurious and elegant metals in the world. It is stronger than gold or silver, and if you want a long-lasting piece of jewelry, platinum is the top choice for metal. Because of platinum’s elegant luster and longevity, platinum is the top choice for wedding rings amongst couples. It is also a lucrative deal when you sell your platinum ring in the secondary market. Read more about where to sell platinum rings and how much your platinum ring is worth.

Platinum Ring Price

Platinum is extremely rare, and it is rarer than gold. Even though gold is more expensive, platinum is also very valuable. And just like other precious metals, platinum’s value is determined by its purity or fineness. So when you sell your platinum ring, you must know its value. Several factors influence the value of your platinum ring. These include the following:

Purity

Purity refers to the percentage of pure platinum that is in your ring. Platinum jewelry will usually have a mark on them with numbers that indicate its platinum content, with 999 being 99.9% platinum, 950 (95%), 900 (90%), and the lowest 850 (85%). The letters PLAT or PT can also be found, indicating that the ring is platinum and not silver.

Weight

Another factor to consider is the weight of your platinum ring. As platinum is sold by the ounce. However, it is easy to calculate how much platinum you have. You will just need a scale that can measure down to the tenth of a gram to get going.

Spot price

Platinum’s price is determined by the market and is primarily influenced by its supply and demand. As a result, it is extremely volatile, even more so than gold and silver, because of its lower liquidity. To learn more about platinum’s spot price, go here. If you are planning to sell your platinum ring, it is better to sell it when platinum’s price is high.

Brief History

Platinum’s first recorded use is traced back to ancient Egypt in 1200 BC. Archeologists found traces of platinum in a small box inside ancient Egyptian princess Shepenupet II’s tomb. The box had gold-platinum hieroglyphics decorations on it. However, ancient Egyptians seem to not know the metal.

In 1557, when Julius Caesar Scaliger discovered platinum, it was described as something that fire could not melt. It was discovered between the town of Darién in Panama and Mexico. Miners used to consider platinum as an impure version of gold, and it was thrown away.

In 1753, while traveling through Colombia and Peru, Spanish scientists Antonio de Ulloa and Jorge Juan y Santacilia noticed the natives mining platinum. When they found the mines, they bought home chunks of whitish metals.

Then, in the early 1900s, platinum’s popularity spread to the United States, enthralling the American public. However, the United States government classified platinum as a strategic metal during World War II, banning its use in jewelry. As a result, platinum was almost forgotten by the end of the war.

Why Platinum?

Platinum is a precious metal known for its silvery-white luster. It is very malleable, making it easier to work with than gold. However, it is a very strong metal, making it more preferable for everyday wear jewelry.

Another thing that makes platinum stand out from other metals is that it is tarnish-resistant. Being tarnish-resistant, coupled with its incredible strength, makes it the ideal metal for setting gemstones, especially diamonds.

Because of platinum’s incredible durability, it is the top choice for making jewelry. Especially for everyday wear jewelry like rings—wedding rings & engagement rings in particular. Aside from its durability, platinum is also hypoallergenic. And it is highly valuable in the secondary market when you sell your platinum ring.

Costume Jewelry

Where to Sell Costume Jewelry | Costume Jewelry Buyer – Las Vegas, NV

Sell Costume Jewelry

Costume jewelry or fashion jewelry is jewelry that is not crafted from precious metals like gold, silver, or platinum. Instead, they are typically made from inexpensive alternatives like brass, copper, aluminum, or non-metals like cloth, leather, beads, etc. Some costume jewelry will have faux gemstones like crystals, plastic stones, and cubic zirconia. Costume jewelry may be inexpensive, but it can also have some value. If you need extra cash and have some costume jewelry lying around, you can sell your costume jewelry to a local coin store. Read below to learn more about how to sell your costume jewelry, where to sell your costume jewelry, costume jewelry value, and costume jewelry buyers.

Value of Costume Jewelry

The untrained eye may not tell whether you have useful costume jewelry, but there are a few details to look for. Here are some things to consider when assessing the worth of your costume jewelry.

Costume jewelry was a big thing in the 20th century, and many women of that time owned a piece or more. The previous generation will often pass down costume jewelry to the next. Costume jewelry may be inexpensive, but they also have value. When selling your costume jewelry, buyers will often evaluate it. Here are some factors we consider when evaluating your costume jewelry.

Jewelry Mark

Costume jewelry, especially ones from famous brands, will have a jeweler’s mark on them. Jewelry from Trifari, Wiess, Chanel, and Monet will typically be more valuable than ones that do not have hallmarks.

Design

Over the twentieth century, fashion styles and patterns shifted drastically. As a result, the piece’s overall appearance will help determine when it was made and its worth. For example, lavish styles were common in the mid-twentieth century, with larger pieces and brighter colors.

Craftsmanship

As mass-produced jewelry gained popularity in the mid-19th century, some jewelry produced might not have the same quality as one that is handcrafter. However, that does not mean that it does not have value. It will still be valuable, especially if it is a vintage or antique piece.

Materials

Although a majority of costume jewelry’s material is non-precious metals, some can still have traces of it. If you sell your costume jewelry with us, we will thoroughly evaluate your piece to avoid missing anything. Some costume jewelry will also have real gemstones like amethyst, sapphire, emerald, and a lot more. Gemstones will also account for your jewelry’s value.

How to Sell Costume Jewelry

There are many ways to sell your costume jewelry. You may sell them online, but you cannot be sure how much you will get, and the buyer may not thoroughly evaluate them. The best way to sell your costume jewelry is by going to your local coin store. Local coin stores will do real-time evaluation as you watch, so you can rest assured that you get the best offer. But if you just want to know how much you’ll get for your costume jewelry, you can always send us a quote request here, and we will give you a rough estimate for free.

Brief History

Costume jewelry has always been a part of life for nearly 300 years. Jewelers in the 18th century started making jewelry using low-cost glass. And in the 19th century, jewelers started making jewelry using semi-precious materials and sold them on the market. Since semi-precious materials are more budget-friendly, costume jewelry became popular amongst commoners.

However, costume jewelry’s golden age only emerged in the 20th century. Then, the demand for costume jewelry skyrocketed as the newly emerging middle class wanted to own budget-friendly jewelry. And because this all happened during the industrial revolution, producing knock-off heirloom pieces became possible.

The industrial revolution brought about rapid changes that affected the socio-economic status of Americans. As these changes happened, the indicators of wealth changed as well. As a result, women of all social classes, especially working-class women, can own costume jewelry. And because of costume jewelry’s affordability, even women from the far-flung rural areas can wear this mass-produced, budget-friendly, trendy jewelry.

Costume jewelry became even more popular during the mid-20th century. Again, Hollywood is a major contributor to the popularity of costume jewelry. Popular actresses during the 1940s and 1950s would wear jewelry by popular jewelry designers. This era also gave rise to costume jewelry makers like Chanel, Corocraft, Coventry, Dior, Kim Craftsmen, Miriam Haskell, Monet, and Napier, making high-end and low-cost jewelry. French designer Coco Chanel is one of the major forces who popularized costume jewelry.

Old Jewelry

Where to Sell Old Jewelry | Old Jewelry Buyer – Las Vegas, NV

Sell Old Jewelry

People often describe old jewelry as antique or vintage jewelry. It encompasses jewelry items that are 100 years old and have gone through the toll of time and civilization. It comes in various designs and styles that are evident in its production and the complexity of its details. The scope of old jewelry is multifaceted as it can come in so many forms, types, and styles. Read below to learn more about where to sell old jewelry, old jewelry buyers, and old jewelry value.

Sell Old Jewelry For Its History

Jewelry has long been a part of human lives. Even early humans such as the Neanderthals have used jewelry to adorn themselves. Prehistoric humans who lived near the sea have decorated themselves with shells and fishbones. Ancient humans strung together shells and fishbones to make jewelry. People who lived more inland decorated themselves with animal bones such as antlers, tusks, or bones.

Then the ancient Egyptians established a standard way of jewelry making approximately 3,000 – 5,000 years ago. The ancient Egyptians used gold in jewelry making because of the belief that gold was the flesh of the sun god Ra. Fortunately, gold was abundant in ancient Egypt. Ancient Egyptians wore jewelry in life and in death. That’s why most Egyptian tombs also contain the dead’s earthly possessions. The Egyptians also various colored gemstones to make bracelets. These include amethyst, carnelian, green feldspar, and turquoise.

In 1600 BC, the Greeks began utilizing gold jewelry. However, historical records show that beads from various materials were commonly used earlier and can be traced back to 1200 BC. The Greeks also developed multiple techniques in jewelry making. However, ancient Greeks do not often wear jewelry, but only during special occasions or public appearances. Crowns, earrings, bracelets, rings, hairpins, necklaces, and brooches are examples of Greek jewelry.

Notably, most gemstones that we use today had already been found by the Romans. Roman women wore hairpins that were long enough to use in self-defense. The Romans also loved the cameo, who admired it for its elegance. Bracelets for the wrist and upper arms and necklaces and gold coin jewelry became common as well.

Ultimately, jewelry throughout the changing trends made its place in society and is still a very significant accessory today. And selling old jewelry, especially antique and vintage ones is very lucrative.

Value of Old Jewelry

When you plan on selling your old jewelry, old jewelry buyers will have to evaluate and analyze your item to be able to come up with the best value for it. Below are a few factors that determine the value of your jewelry.

Age and demand – The exact date when the jewelry was made is hard to tell. Thus, jewelry buyers will have to evaluate the jewelry based on its major characteristics and compare it to the characteristics of jewelry from certain periods in history.

Material – When dealing with old jewelry, the material used is important when determining its value. Most older jewelry is gold jewelry, so determining its purity will affect its value. However, many old jewelry is also costume jewelry, which means that they are not made from precious metals.

Item condition – Old jewelry is seen as less valuable when they are in poor condition. However, remember that even if an extremely rare item is in bad or good condition, it can still be worth a lot of money.

Repairs, restorations, and modifications – When selling your old jewelry, jewelry buyers will look for signs of repairs, restorations, and improvements when inspecting an item. An old jewelry item that has been properly repaired will usually maintain its value; however, pieces replaced or repaired using cheaper materials will lose a significant amount of their original value.

Stamps, marks, and signatures – An old jewelry item with the manufacturer’s logo or the artist’s name stamped or otherwise labeled is usually more valuable than one without.

Brief History

Jewelry is no stranger to prehistoric North America. Archeologists discovered four bone earrings near Fairbanks, Alaska, which is at least 12,000 years old. Paleo-Indians—the first inhabitants of the Americas— who settled in the American Southwest used multicolored stones and shells to make beads and pendants. Archeologists found other indigenous peoples jewelry across the Southwest, such as antler, bone, shell beads from 7000 BC in Russell Cave in Alabama, Olivella shells that were from 6000 BC in Nevada, copper jewelry from 3000 BC in Lake Superior, and carved stone beads from 1500 BC in Poverty Point in Louisiana.

Another indigenous tribe, the Plains Indians or Plains Cree, are known for their intricate beadwork. They used shells like marginella and olivella, which were bartered from the Gulf of Mexico and the Californian West Coast, eventually making their way into the Plains. Items such as abalone, dentalia, mussel shell gorgets were valuable materials used in jewelry making.

A piece of jewelry called Heishe—organic shells or stones made into tube or disc-shaped beads—was something that a few Southwest tribes have in common. In the early 1800s, silversmiths were the ones who made the majority of the jewelry found in the American Southwest. They made various silver jewelry such as bridles, silver buttons, belt buckles, etc.

Native American jewelry is also very much celebrated that a lot of people are looking into owning some pieces. You can sell your Native American jewelry as well.

Apache

Traditionally Apache men and women wore shell beads and turquoise jewelry. Apache women were famous for wearing multiple necklaces at a time ranging from chokers to beads made from various materials such as turquoise, abalone, etc. The Apache people also made jewelry from silver and brass and set them with turquoise. The Plains Cree people were a huge influence on the Apache craftsmen when it comes to beadworks.

Hopi

In 1898, the first Hopi person—Sikyatata, became a silversmith. Hopi silversmiths are popular for using an overlay technique in making silver jewelry.

Navajo

During the 19th century, the Navajo people began working with silver. And the first Navajo blacksmith—Atsidi Sani or Old Smith, also became the first Navajo silversmith. Atsidi Sani learned silversmithing from a Mexican silversmith in 1853. As a result, many Navajo craftsmen who eventually learned to work with metals started crafting jewelry. The Navajo craftsmen commonly use silver in making jewelry such as belt buckles, bracelets, bridles, buttons, earrings, crescent-shaped pendants called najas, and a lot more.

One of the most iconic pieces of jewelry made by the Navajo and other Southwestern indigenous people is the Squash Blossom Necklace.

Altho they are not particularly rare, most people are willing to spend thousands of dollars on diamond jewelry because of its beauty and brilliance. Diamond’s ability to disperse light makes it a favorite among jewelers, too. If you plan to sell diamond jewelry, all you need to do is find a reputable diamond jewelry buyer like Nevada Coin Mart. The owner, Neil Sackmary, works with diamond experts who fully understand the true value of diamond jewelry. This helps the store give the best deals in all of Las Vegas. Read on to find out more about where to sell your diamond jewelry.

Sell Diamond Jewelry for a Value in Vegas

Every diamond is one-of-a-kind, with various sizes, forms, colors, and other characteristics. Some people have features that set them apart from the rest. A variety of variables are considered to determine the value of diamonds, one of which is rarity. If you wish to sell diamond jewelry, we recommend reading through this carefully to avoid horrible sales.

The 4Cs define a diamond’s characteristics, and these determine the value of a diamond. This combination determines the worth of a finished diamond. The rarity of a diamond influences its price. The higher the value of a gem, the rarer it is. Transparent and near-colorless shades sell better than those with yellow and brown tints.

Color

Color variations may affect a diamond’s overall value. Even a small amount of color can have a major effect on a diamond’s worth. Diamonds are available in several colors, but colorless diamonds are the most valuable because they are the rarest. Colorless diamonds have a GIA color grading of D to F. Near-colorless diamonds have a GIA color grading of G-J, faint diamonds have a GIA color grading of K-M, and very light diamonds have a GIA color grading of N-R. Also, light-colored diamonds have a GIA color grading of S-Z.

Clarity

In diamonds, transparency refers to the lack of inclusions and blemishes. Inclusions are internal features of diamonds that may sometimes break their surface, while blemishes are surface irregularities. People refer to these as clarity characteristics. Scratches and nicks on a diamond’s surface are examples of blemishes. When you sell diamond jewelry, clarity is one of the things that diamond jewelry buyers take into consideration heavily. It’s related to the color of your diamond, so make sure you check yours for clarity before closing any deals.

Cut

The cut of a diamond involves the number of light reflections that bounce through the diamond’s facets, as well as the diamond’s shape. Fancy cuts are diamond shapes that go beyond the usual round brilliant. Fancy shapes include the marquise, princess, pear, oval, heart, and emerald cuts.

Carat Weight

The carat weight of a diamond is primarily measured in metric carats, abbreviated “ct.” A metric carat is two-tenths of a gram (0.2) or just over seven-thousandths of an ounce (0.007). Almost 142 carats are contained in one ounce of a diamond.

Diamond weight over a carat is generally expressed in carats and decimals. For example, a 1.03-carat stone will be represented as “one point oh three carats” or “one oh three.” Diamonds weighing less than a carat are commonly measured in points. A 0.83-carat diamond is called an “eighty-three pointer” because it weighs “eighty-three points.”

Brief History

Many jewelry experts and historians believe that diamonds originate from India over 3,000 years ago. Based on Buddhist texts, the use of diamonds dates back as far as the 4th century BC. Buddhists claimed that wearing diamonds as talismans could ward off evil because of the stone’s ability to refract light.

In the Early Middle Ages, civilizations thought diamonds had medicinal properties. They believed that holding a diamond while making the sign of the cross would cure the ill or suffering.

People also claimed eating diamonds would heal them. However, diamonds’ reputation as a cure-all gradually changed. Instead, they became more valuable artifacts over time, whether as gemstones or for industrial purposes. To prevent smuggling, miners would explain how diamonds can be poisonous once people consume them. Eventually, mines in India ran dry, and diamonds became somewhat rare and scarce in the area.

In 1074 AD, a Hungarian queen’s crown became the first example of a diamond in jewelry. Following that, people began using diamonds in a variety of crowns and royal jewels. The first written record of diamond cutting in Europe dates from 1407 in Paris, where a guild of jewel cutters was active.

In 1458, a man from Belgium discovered that he can cut diamonds using its own dust. The same man invented the diamond polishing wheel and was the first to propose cutting a diamond with symmetrically aligned facets. Then, in 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave Mary of Burgundy the first recorded diamond engagement ring, marking the start of the tradition in their place.

Diamond Jewelry in the 1800s

In 1866, a child playing in a river found colored stones, which contributed to discovering the first diamond mines in South Africa. One of the stones turned out to be a gem. Since then, South Africa became a significant location for diamond mining, which led to the discovery of several other diamond mines around the world.
